National Juvenile Indoors 2023

Dooneen athletes competed at the All Ireland Indoor championships held in the TUS Indoor Arena, Athlone on Saturday 25th March.
Highlight of the day was the girls U15 team team of Lilly McMahon, Mega O’Shea, Emma Pethis, Destiny Lawal and Niamh Hynes who won the 4x200m relay in a new championship record of 1:46:55, beating the previous record held by the Dooneen team of 2022. The girls u19 relay team of Aimee Ryan, Debbie Lawal, Molly Quirke and Victoria Amiadamen came in 2nd to the Ratoath team who broke the championship record with a time of 1:41:45. The girls U18 relay team of Leagh Moloney, Angel Alfred, Nancy O’Keeffe and Vivian Amaeze came 3rd where the girls from Ratoath AC again broke the championship record with a time of 1:41:75. Leagh Moloney competed in the Tripple Jump and came home 2nd with an amazing jump of 10.79 meters. Angel Alfred competed in the Shot Putt and came in 6th place with a throw of 10.50 meters. Our U16 relay girls team of Eanna Ni Huigin, Ivana O’Carroll, Niamh Hynes, Emma Pethos, Rihanna Heng and Destiny Lawal completed the 2x200m in a time of 1:52:33. Our u12 boys relay team, Cooper Martin, Ruadhan O’ Hannaidh, Tommy Hayes, Thomas O’Donnell who were competing at the nationals for the first time came home in a fantastic time of 2:03:99.
Day 2 of the National Athletics are on in Athlone Indoor Area, Sat April 1st.
 
Highlights of Day 2 were 
  • Victoria Amiadamen who won the girls u19 400m National Title  in a time of 56.75 seconds.
  • Dentiny Lawal  won the girls U15 60m sprints in an amazing time of 7.81 seconds (7.93 seconds in heat)
  • Debbie Lawal 2nd in girls U19 60 m sprints with a time of 7.75 seconds (7.82 seconds in heat)
  • Lavr Malejevs 3rd with a throw of 8.75m in the boys U12 2kg shot put
  • Leagh Moloney 3rd in girls Long Jump with a jump of 5.19 meters
 
Other top performers on the day were Alan McCutcheon who completed the 1500m in a time of 4:37.18 minutes and took 12 seconds off his personal best.
In the U12 boys 2kg Shot put we had , Oisin Purtill 9th (7.08m) and Evan Ryle Bourke 6th (7.76m).
In the U15 girls 60 m splints we had Lily McMahon 8.34 seconds.
In the girls u16 60m sprints we had Éanna iseult NÍ HUIGÍN 8.18 seconds
In the girls u18 60m sprints we had Angel Alfred in 8.22 seconds
In the boys U18 60m sprints we had Lamine Diarrassouba (7.28 seconds)
In the girls U18 Long Jump we had Emma Griffin (3.70 meters)
