    Dooneen Little Athletics – Winter 2024 Session

    Dooneen Little Athletics is back on Sunday mornings 9-10am in Vartry Field, Raheen. The aim is to get 5-7 year olds active using games based on fundamental movements.  This year coach Rosie is joined by our middle distance teen assistants Ivana O’Carroll and Sophia Meaney who make the sessions fun and inclusive for all the children.  Transition year provides an opportunity to gain experience in leadership and we are delighted they volunteered their time to bring along the younger age group in Athletics. Parents have the opportunity to walk or run the 400m field loop or local area while children get active with Rosie, Ivana and Sophia.  Each week there…

    Little Athletics Training

    Little Athletics training, starting Sun 20th for 8-9 wks, finishing Dec 15th latest, depending on weather may finish Dec 8th.  Open for 5-7 year olds.  Takes place in Vartry Field on Mulcair Road on Sunday morning at 9-10AM.  New applicants must join using the Little Athletics option.

    Munster U9-U11 Indoor Championships

    Under 9 to 11 Munster Indoor championships were held in Nenagh on Sunday, March 10th. Competition was fierce this year with very high entries into all events.  U11 girls had 10 heats in the 600m and 14 heats in the 60m sprint while there were as much as 100 in several age groups on long jump. All participants received a special certificate of achievement which we presented to those that braved the wet weather on Monday evening in The Comp, plus an extra early Easter gift from the club in recognition of their performance. Katelyn also received her first Munster medal in the 1km walk.

    Cross Country Results from Newcastlewest

    Cross Country Results   Well done to all the athletes who participated in the Cross Country last weekend in Newcastlewest. Girls The U10 girls were represented by Blanca Daviet who was second overall and the other team members were Faye Hallinan, Ella Harte, Clara Mooney, Grace O’Connor and Penny Walsh. The U10 team won bronze. In the U12 race, the Dooneen girls won gold in the team event. Eva McMahon was second followed by Ciara Lynnn, Caoilinn Crowley and Farrah O’Sullivan.
