2025 Munster Uneven-age Cross Country

In what turned out to be the best weather of the week, with sunshine and blue skies, Dooneen athletes turned out once again for the Munster Uneven-age cross country championship, hosted by Moycarkey Coolcroo AC.  We had Jared Cusack and Noah Alfred starting out in the U0 boys race, followed immediately by the team of Olivia Harty, Sarah Bourke, Blanka Kowalska and Lily Conway in the girls U11.  Sarah and Olivia had already competed out of age in the U12 race at the same venue three weeks ago, so this was a breeze for them today.  In boys U11 we had Caleb Cusack and Shane Horrigan competing.

We then had the U15 girls team of Eva McMahon, Faye Cusakc, Saoirse Eades-Christian and Grace O’Brien.  Eva and Grace has also competed at the venue three weeks ago at their in-age U14 event, and it was great to see them both back to compete out of age today.  Eva cames 2nd overall in this race today and the team were fourth placed club team for Munster.  We also had a boys U15 team of Sean Coleman, Kyle Harte, Cormac Harty and Liam Harnett.  Liam made part of the Limerick County bronze medal team.

After this we had the return of Ellen Goggin for her first cross-country race of the year, having been kept busy with her Irish International Football duties lately, and a fine return it was to finish in first place.  She was followed almost immediately by Ella Grace Osborne finishing third.

Our final Dooneen athlete was also the sole Limerick representative for U19 girls, Aimee Mac Mahon, who had a far better day the second time out at this Tipperary venue by finishing nicely inside the top 12 medal winners.  Perhaps the longer distance and running out of age is the way forward for our athletes?

We look forward to our next competition, taking place next weekend in Newcastle West will be the Limerick County uneven-age cross country.  I know that many of today’s participants will be back for that one.
