2025 Munster U12-14 Indoor Championships
The 2025 Munster Indoor Championships are now complete with the second weekend in Nenagh. Starting the weekend off were the hurdles and in Girls U14 was Faye Cusack, followed by Sophie Sherlock and Clara Mooney in U12. Clara made the semi-final and Sophie made the final. In the U13 Hurdles Lucy O’Donnell made the semi-final. In Boys U13 Hurdles Bobby Weekes and Milo Liddy-McDonagh both made the final, with Bobby finishing 2nd and Milo coming 8th. Girls U14 800m Lara O’Regan ran in heat 2 alongside the eventual overall winner while Eva McMahon ran heat 4 winning this heat and finishing 2nd overall. Caitlin Garvey won the girls U14 1000m…

2025 Munster Indoor U15-U19 Championships
Last weekend saw the Munster Indoor track and field season start at Nenagh Olympic Stadium. Over the weekend athletes from all over Munster turned out to compete for medals and qualification to the National Indoor Championships in March. Siun Galvin was first up for Dooneen on Saturday in the U15 Girls 60m hurdles. Isbéal Ni Huigín competed in the U16 Girls 200m and came 2nd, splitting the 1st and 3rd that had both run in the first heat and finishing over 1 second ahead of the 2nd place in her heat. 2025 Limerick Indoors
The Indoor Track and Field championships took place on Sunday the 12th in Nenagh. After a week of snow and freezing conditions, the temperature got up enough to go ahead with the championships, and the competition was hot too. First off, it was a very special Birthday for one very special coach. Wrapping Up The 2024 Season
As 2024 comes to a close, these are some of the recent highlights from the club in Munster and National Cross Country, and other International Events. Well done to Caitlin Garvey who competed in the International race walking event, incorporating National Championships in Dublin today. Caitlin finished in top ten of Irish girls in U14 2k race and achieved a personal best!! Spraoi Games with Dooneen AC Little Athletics group. 24 5-7 year olds have been active for the past 8 weeks. Exciting news!!! Registration for the Dooneen 10mile in memory of Michal Rejmer is now open for a bargain early bird price of €20!! See link below to register (or in our IG bio). With a fabulous setting of Limerick Racecourse and with our sponsors HOMS Assist, the 10mile run takes place on Sunday 13th April at 11am. For 2025, there are even more prizes!! Dooneen Little Athletics – Winter 2024 Session
Dooneen Little Athletics is back on Sunday mornings 9-10am in Vartry Field, Raheen. The aim is to get 5-7 year olds active using games based on fundamental movements. This year coach Rosie is joined by our middle distance teen assistants Ivana O’Carroll and Sophia Meaney who make the sessions fun and inclusive for all the children. Transition year provides an opportunity to gain experience in leadership and we are delighted they volunteered their time to bring along the younger age group in Athletics. Little Athletics training, starting Sun 20th for 8-9 wks, finishing Dec 15th latest, depending on weather may finish Dec 8th. Open for 5-7 year olds. Takes place in Vartry Field on Mulcair Road on Sunday morning at 9-10AM. New applicants must join using the Little Athletics option.

2024 Limerick Cross Country Day 2 (Newcastle West)
A wet day in Newcastlewest yesterday at the cross country. That didn’t stop our young juvenile athletes from running the length and breadth of four muddy and wet fields! 2024 Limerick Cross Country Day 1 (Bilboa)
A great day of running today at Bilboa AC, the uneven County Championships. Lots of Dooneen AC juveniles took part, plenty medals and smiles at the start/finish line. Well done to all the Dooneen athletes who took part, many running cross country for the first time. Next Cross Country event is in Newcastlewest on Sunday Sept 29th.

HEROutdoors Campaign
Club members, parents and friends are taking part this year in the national active outdoors initiative aimed at boosting participation by girls and women in outdoor fitness of all kinds. Thanks to Athletics Ireland for supporting this joint Dooneen and Limerick AC activity through the HEROutdoors campaign fund. The 3-session format is group warm-up to music, mobility and stretching followed by paired stations for a circuit utilising the outdoor gym equipment in Mungret Park. At this time of year, base fitness building with a focus on running is ideal for beginners and our teenaged athletes.
