2026 Munster U9-12 Track and Field Day 1
A sunny and warm May day in Waterford this year, which is a nice change, and its set to be even warmer tomorrow so lets hope the action is as hot from all our young athletes. Today we had some great competition and results for both individual and team pairs. In the U9 long jump we had Ciara Hanley with Lily Conway, Blanka Kowalska, Moulika Gokul Muthu, Katie Wallace and Amelie Hall all in the U12 event. 2026 Limerick Track and Field
Newcastle West was venue for County Juvenile Outdoor Championships last weekend. The weather was kind as hundreds of athletes took part in track, field and relay events. This event is always a wonderful opportunity for children to compete and to showcase the breadth of events that athletes can excel at! Not every young person is a sprinter or long distance runner – so events like long jump, shot put, relays and javelin give us a chance to see the exceptional skill of these young people. Munster Indoor U12-U14 Updates
Updates for this coming weekend’s Munster Championships in Nenagh. Saturday morning starts at the earlier time of 9:30AM, while Sunday will begin from 10AM. Results throughout the day will be available online at the link below. Dooneen Senior Race Updates
Well dome to our Dooneen Athletics who turned out in huge numbers and produced great times in Adare today. Dooneen took the Womnen’s Team title on 35 pts from West Limerick on 41. Credit goes to Clare Coleman 5th and 1st F40 (40:08) Tracey Johnson 8th (41:39), Sinead McDermott 9th (41:42) and Ann MacPhail 13th (43:37) who helped Dooneen take the Cup. Our Mens team were 2nd overall and featured Dima Zarinovs 23rd place on 35:36, Kevin Johnson (30th) 37:12, Cian Aherne (31st) 37:15 and Seamus McCarthy (34th) 37:45 . Munster 2026 Indoor U15-19 Day 2
Day 2 of the U15-19 indoor championships started with mixed relays for U17 and U19. The U19 team came 3rd while the U17 team finished just off the emdals in 4th. In the U16 60m sprint, Jay Collins took gold, Isbéal Ní Huigín took gold in the U17 girls sprint too while Grace Mainoo was second in the U18 sprint. Éanna Ní Huigín was also second in the U19 sprint. Lavr Malejevs was second in the U15 shot while in the U17 shot, Raymond O’Brien was 3rd and Oisin Garvey was 4th. Day 1 of Track and Field at the Munster indoors for 2026. Results can be seen online at http://live.munsterathletics.com/menu.html A new championship record was set in the Shot by Emer Purtil, who broke the old record with all of her throws and se also took gold in high jump. Her sister Meabh also took gold in her high jump event. There was gold for the U19 girls relay and silver for the U15 girls. Jay Collins won in his hurdles while Megan O’Shea took the sivler in hers. 2026 Pat Naughton Indoor Games
The Pat Naughton Games, hosted by Nenagh Olympic AC, for club athletes aged U9 to U11 took place at the indoor track on Sunday Feb 15th. With 60m sprints, 300m, 500m and 600m middle-distance races, long jump, turbo javelin and shot-put, there was plenty of action and competition for all and there was a large contingency of Dooneen athletes in attendance. 2026 National Indoor League Final
Valentine’s Day 2026 will hold a special place in the hearts of the Dooneen National League women’s team, as many of them proudly claimed their first National Senior Athletics medal. It was a thrilling and fast-moving day, packed with standout performances from start to finish. The action kicked off with the 60m, where the talented Destiny Lawal got Dooneen off to a good start by putting our first points on the scoreboard. Momentum quickly gathered thanks to Olga Nedvede, who delivered a superb maximum-points performance in the weight for distance, setting the tone for the events to follow. Mungret Development update in Limerick Leader
The Limerick Leader have published an article about the Mungret Development, and is available online now. A planning notice has been published which represents the first step for the club in securing permission to build on a five-acre patch of land opposite Mungret Community College. The facility is set to comprise of an indoor running track, gymnasium, plus changing rooms. National League Team Result
Our young Dooneen girls team made the trip to Athlone for Day 2 of the Athletics Ireland Indoor League competition. Transition Year student Emer Purtill gave the team the perfect start, taking maximum points in the 4kg shot put with a massive throw of 13.31m. This set the tone for what turned out to be a great day. Sixteen-year-old sprint star Destiny Lawal made a welcome return from injury, giving the team a big boost in the 60m sprint. Leagh Moloney’s season continues to build, and she impressed once again in the long jump.
