
2025 Munster U12-14 Indoor Championships
The 2025 Munster Indoor Championships are now complete with the second weekend in Nenagh. Starting the weekend off were the hurdles and in Girls U14 was Faye Cusack, followed by Sophie Sherlock and Clara Mooney in U12. Clara made the semi-final and Sophie made the final. In the U13 Hurdles Lucy O’Donnell made the semi-final.
In Boys U13 Hurdles Bobby Weekes and Milo Liddy-McDonagh both made the final, with Bobby finishing 2nd and Milo coming 8th.
Girls U14 800m Lara O’Regan ran in heat 2 alongside the eventual overall winner while Eva McMahon ran heat 4 winning this heat and finishing 2nd overall.
Caitlin Garvey won the girls U14 1000m walk in a time of 6 mins.
In the relays, we had Girls U12, U13 and U14 teams. The U12 team was made up of Sophie Sherlock, Grace O’Connor, Clara Mooney and Aine Mullins. The U13 team was Iseult Ni Annaidh, Faye Hallinan, Hannah Mc Inerney, Hannah O’Brien, Sinead Lynch and Ella Harte. The U14 team of Aoibheann Hennigar, Cara Guinan, Faye Cusack, Belle Crowley, Amy Weekes and Anna Lee won their heat and took the bronze medal from the overall event.
In the boys relays, we had a team in both U13 and U14. The U12 team of Bobby Weekes, Matty Rice, Milo Liddy McDonagh and Luke Hayes won their heat, but finished outside the medals. The U14 team of Fionn O’Connor, Ruadhán O Hannaidh, Cooper Martin, Donnchadh Guilfoyle and Martin Lynch finished just outside the medals in 4th place.
60m Sprints
Girls U12 had Clara Mooney, U13 had Sinead Lynch Hannah O’Brien Iseult Ni Annaidh, Hannah Mac Inerney, Faye Hallinan while U14 had Faye Cusack, Anna Lee, Amy Weekes and Cara Guinan, with Cara progressing to the semi final and only missing out on a place in the final by a few hundredths of a second.
We had no boys in the U12 sprint, and Kelvin O’Carrol’s 2015 record of 8.42 still stands. In U13, Matty Rice and Milo Liddy-McDonagh both made the semi-final but missed out on qualification for the final. In U14 we had Ruadhán O’Hannaidh, Martin Lynch, Fionn O’Connor, Donnchadh Guilfoyle and Cooper Martin, with Cooper making it to the final but finishing outdside the medals.
Field Events.
Girls U13 Shot Chelsea Malejeva threw a PB of 9.12m on her 6th and final throw to win the event, with Ella Harte throwing 5.23m in her first Munster championship shot.
Caitlin Garvey also threw a PB of 7.36m, finishing in the top 10 in the girls U14 Shot.
In the boys U12 Shot, Nathan Laffan threw 7.24m.
Lavr Malejevs has the 2023 Munster Championship record of 9.76m in U12 Shot, the 2024 Record of 12.76m in U13 Shot and now surpasses the old 13.28m record from the U14 Shot, which has stood since 2009, blowing it out of the park with a 15.27m throw. Congratulations to Lavr on all these achievements.
In the U20 women 3000m, Aimee Mac Mahon took gold with a 10.57.79 run on Saturday, before returning on Sunday to help with the running of the boys events.
In Long Jump, Clara Mooney, Grace O’Connor and Aine Mullins all took part in girls U12. Faye Hallinan and Iseult Ni Annaidh took part in U13 with Cara Guinan in the U14 jump.
For the boys we had Donnchadh Guilfoyle and Ruadhan O’Hannaidh taking part in U14.
