Munster Schools and Limerick Track and Field
Dooneen Athletes completed on Tuesday and Thursday at the North Munster Schools Track & Field Championships, held in Castleisland, Kerry. Athletles who finished in first three places qualified for the Munster schools to be held Saturday 20th May in Castleisland.
Destiny Lawal (Castletroy College) won gold in minor girls 100m (11.9), Ella Grace Osborne (Laurel Hill Colaiste) bronze in 800m (2:30.1) with Catherine McCutcheon 4th. Emer Purtill (Mungret CC) won gold in minor girls High Jump (1.55m), Junior girls Javlin (35.13m), minor girls 200m (27.2), minor girls Shot (12.18m) and minor girls 4x100m relay (with Madison, Marion and Emma). Ross O’Carroll (Mungret CC) bronze in Inter boys 1500m (4:34.9) and gold in Inter boys 800m (2:08.8). Ivana O’Carroll (Mungret CC) silver in U16 girlls mile (6:29:0). Leagh Moloney (Gaelcholaiste) gold in both Inter girls Tripple Jump (11:07m) and Long Jump (5:25m) with Meabh Purtill (Mungret CC) 2nd in Long Jump. Eimer Ryan (Salesian Col, Pallaskenry) silver in Inter girls Javlin (27:90m) and bronze in Inter girls Shot (9:29m). Debbie Lawal (Castletry College) gold in Senior girls 100m (11:7). Megan O’Shea (Crescent Col Comp SJ) won gold in Minor girls 75m hurdles (12.0). Roman O’Connell (Crescent Col Comp SJ) bronze in Junior boys 80m hurdles (18.8). Alan McCutcheon (Crescent Col Comp SJ) won silver in Inter boys 1500m Steeplechase (5:07.5) and bronze in the 3000m (9:41.3). Sarah Butler (Laurel Hill) won gold in Inter girls 1500m Steeplechase (5:45.5). Orla O’Shaughnessy (Salesian College) silver in Inter girls 200m (25.2). Lamine Diarrassouba (Castletroy College) silver in Senior boys 200m (22.5). Grace Mainoo (Castletroy College) silver in Junior girls 200m (27.0), Niamh Hynes (Mungret CC) bronze in Junior girls 200m (27.3) and 4th in Junior girls 800m (2:29.0)
Dooneen Athletes completed in the Limerick Country Track and Field Championships on Sunday in University of Limerick.
The started off with the hurdles for all ages. Some of the highlights here were Megan O’Shea winning the girls U15 75m hurdles who came in 2nd in the 100m sprint, Jane McGrath was first in the girls u14 75m hurdles with Beibhinn Collins a close second, who also won the girls u14 Long Jump. Niamh Hynes came first in the girls u15 250m hurldes in a personal best of 40.2 seconds, 2nd in the 800m and 4th in the 200m. Alan McCutcheon won the boys 400m hurdles. Faye Cusack won the girls u12 hurdles. Destiny Lawal won the girls u15 100m and 200m sprints. Aisling O’Sullivan came in 2nd in giirls u15 Long Jump with Emma Griffin claiming gold in u16 Long Jump. Grace Mainoo was 3rd in girls u15 100m and 2nd in 200m sprints. Ellen Goggin won girls U14 800m, Robert McCutcheon 2nd in u14 boys 800m. Ruadhan Crowley was 3rd in boys u15 800m. Ivana O’Carroll in girls u16 800m with Riahanna Heng 3rd. Vivian Amaeze came home first in 100m an 200m sprints. Lamine Diarrassouba won gold in the junior boys 100and 200m sprints. Ciara Lynn and her brother Darragh both won their 600m finals. Isbeal Ni Huigin won her 100m sprint and came home 2nd in a very close 200m final. Her sister Eanna won her 100m and 200m sprints.
